I had a great time seeing music on December 5th. Work was really intense and I had been putting in 10 hour jam packed days. I did the radio show Thursday night, did not get much sleep and the long work day just about put me down. There was lots of great music happening that night. Dino Bravo VT and Crazyhearse were at The Monkey House, ROUGH FRANCIS were celebrating their birthday at Radio Bean with Blue Button and 4-5 other bands. I got out too late to make the Winooski show and did not have a few hours of rock in me. I wanted to go nowhere but though I might possibly be able to handle seeing two bands at Manhattan Pizza and Pub. I yanked my face out of my hands and forced myself out the door.

I had a great time seeing music last night. I knew there was no way I could see all that I wanted, but set up an ambitious plan and carried it through. I got out of work at 7 and did a quick turn around and was at Radio Bean a little after 8. Milton Busker was on and playing his heart out on acoustic guitar. His playing was subtle and exciting at the same time. His songs evoked a full band, but it was just him on stage. I was pretty mesmerized for the set until the last song where he just rocked hard and I bopped around in joy.
After he finished I headed to Juniper and saw Swale play in a lobby. There were a bunch of people sitting around chatting and Swale set up and played a bunch of their most gentle songs. Gorgeous versions of…

Black Rabbit and Wave Of The Future at Manhattan Pizza January 30, 2014

I had a great time seeing music last night. I finished up the radio show, ran over to Manhattan Pizza and Pub and walked in as Black Rabbit were playing the Black Cat. They played a few of their melodic, fast, heavy rockers. In honor of the Ramones mural, they tossed in Chinese Rock. They played a new song that sounded great, and lots of classics like 89, Neighborhood, and Tibbar Tibbar. They finished with a Buzzcocks cover and the place was officially rocked.
After a short break, Wave of the Future hit the stage with Great Scott. Their high energy dance/pop/funk was fast, loud and fun. The back and forth shouted vocals from Luke Richer and Samara Lark Brown set an unrelenting pace for the music. Drummer Jeremy Gartner was wicked fast and at times did some double pumping on the bass drum. They played a lots of songs…
