I had a great time seeing music tonight at the New City Galerie. I worked until 7, got home about 7:15, was out the door at 7:30 and downtown around 7:45. I had scouted the venue the day before on the way home from my radio show, but despite my best intentions I only caught the last half song by opener Sean Hood, who goes by the name of Eastern Mountain Time. It sounded nice but I was just getting settled when he wrapped up.

I got out too late to make the Winooski show and did not have a few hours of rock in me. I wanted to go nowhere but though I might possibly be able to handle seeing two bands at Manhattan Pizza and Pub. I yanked my face out of my hands and forced myself out the door.

It was a warm night and an easy walk…

I had a great time seeing music last Friday at The Monkey House. I took a bus to Shelburne in the early evening and picked up my brother and a car. Ken and I arrived at the club a bit early and just hung out and chatted with Marc Scarano and Darlene Scarano. After a bit Eric and Nathan Curtis, from work, showed up. It was just after 9:30 when Black Rabbit hit the stage. They came out swinging with a heavy fast version of Mark My Words. I thought Jane Boxall would add a lot to the sound, but her drumming just blew me away. It was like she gave every note it’s own weight and used that to add an extra dimension to the songs. It was almost like seeing them for the first time. They ran through…
